In honor of Community Manager Appreciation Day (January 25th) we have started a new blog post series – the Community Manager Spotlight. On the 25th of every month we will be highlighting one of our very own FUEL CYCLE Client Success team members. Their expert insights can be used to learn a little more about what it takes to run a successful online community.

This week we are highlighting Cher (Cheryl) Thompson, Community Associate at FUEL CYCLE. Check out her interview below:

What is your name & job title?

Cheryl Thompson, Community Associate at Fuel Cycle

What is your favorite thing about your job?

I love interacting with members, and creating fun/interesting content for them to participate in!

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

Creative, Curious, & Wordy

What’s your favorite brand and why?

I love Tarte’s marketing techniques. They’re sparse with their interaction, but they send engaging emails that offer deals, and are always open to interaction/incredibly responsive with customer service.

What does community mean to you?

A space for members to be able to interact and learn with each other and with their moderators – it should be as fun for the person creating it as it is for members!

What is your #1 tip for other CS teams?

Interact with your community as much as possible. Let them get to know you! They’ll be far more honest and open if they have a “persona” relationship with their mod.
